Part Two of Super Load Shipment to Leave Port of Caddo-Bossier Saturday

Home >> News >> Part Two of Super Load Shipment to Leave Port of Caddo-Bossier Saturday

Shreveport, La. – Edwards Moving and Rigging will begin moving a long reflux tank from The Port of Caddo-Bossier this Saturday at 6:00AM. This cargo is the second part of the Super Load that arrived at The Port of Caddo-Bossier earlier in July and could not otherwise have been able to arrive without the infrastructure available at The Port of Caddo-Bossier, specifically The Port’s Slack Water Harbor which allows barges to dock and unload cargo outside of the river current.

The convoy of men and equipment will average 5 MPH each day for 2 days. The transporter will have one truck pulling and one truck pushing the combined weight of 716,455 lbs. We encourage everyone to avoid the transport route on Saturday and Sunday.  The traffic will have minor slowdowns with high congestion.

Route and Time Line:

Saturday 8/1/2015

  • 6:00AM - Turn right from the Ron Bean Road onto Highway 1 North
  • 6:30AM – Police officers will direct traffic around E Flournoy Lucas Road from Ellerbe Road to Wallace Lake Road.  EMS vehicles and local traffic will be able to pass, all others will be re-routed via police assistance.  Edwards Moving and Rigging will be laying out ramps to lessen the RR Grade crossing in the west bound lane of E Flournoy Lucas Road.
  • 7:00AM – Turn left on 523 / E Flournoy Lucas Road
  • 9:00AM – Transporter will cross RR crossing Forbing Road and E Flournoy Lucas Road.  Edwards Moving and Rigging will remove matting and ramps.
  • 10:00AM - Transporter will turn right on Linwood Ave

  • 4:00PM – Transporter will turn left on W. 70th Street

All efforts will be made to make it all the way to the TX state line, but this will be the stopping point if we run out of time.

Sunday 8/2/2015

  • 6:30AM – Transporter will turn left on 79/80

The 2,300 acre Port of Caddo-Bossier is located at the head of navigation on the Red River Waterway in Northwest Louisiana. An inland multi-modal transportation and distribution center, The Port works hand in hand with the port system of Louisiana to successfully link customers throughout the Ark-La-Tex region to domestic and international markets via the Mississippi River, the nation's largest river system, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
