RIVER

The Port of Caddo-Bossier is located at the head of navigation on the Red River Waterway in Northwest Louisiana, about 4 miles south of the Shreveport city limits. The Red River connects to the Mississippi River at the Old River Lock, which is 212 miles south of the Port. From that point, cargo can head either north or south and into the Gulf of Mexico.

General Cargo Dock

  • Equipped with a double hoist 60-ton bridge-crane (each hoist can handle 30 tons)
  • Additional 30-ton single hoist bridge crane
  • 90,000 square foot covered warehouse available for cargo storage
  • 8 acres of nearby hardstand with rail
  • On dock rail for transloading
  • Lock chambers to accommodate a 6-barge tow and boat

 

Slack Water Dock

  • Dock Berth 400 ft. x 100 ft.
  • Additional 125 ft. x 400 ft. hardstand
  • 200 ton crawler crane

The Red River

  • 212 mile navigational channel from the Port to Old River Lock on the Mississippi River
  • Channel Depth:  9 feet. (2.7 meters)
  • Channel Width:  200 feet
  • 5 Locks and Dams between Port and Mississippi River
  • Multiple barge operators provide service along the Red River
