Shreveport, LA/Bossier City, LA – Shreveport firefighters from the newly reopened Fire Station 20, presented the Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission with a specially designed plaque for its commitment and support. Crews from Fire Station 20 are the first to respond to any incident at The Port.
The Port and Fire Station 20 have a long history of cooperation. In 1998, the Port joined the City of Shreveport and Red River Waterway Commission to construct the fire house. When it had to be closed for important renovations, The Port hosted the fire crews inside its Regional Commerce Center. The Port also joined the city in funding the improvements to Fire Station 20.
“Your support, your partnership, and your willingness to help us when we need it, mean more to us than we can put into words,” said Shreveport Fire Department Captain Chris Shamburger during the plaque presentation. “As firefighters, we understand the importance of having strong partners in our community. The relationship between Station 20 and The Port is a perfect example of what happens when people come together with a common goal: keeping our community safe and making it a better place to live and work.”
“We are honored to be recognized by the men and women of Fire Station 20,” said Port Commission President Josh Williams. “Because of its strategic location, Fire Station 20 plays a vital role in the safety of The Port and Southeast Shreveport. Our priority will always be to keep tenants, their employees, and our neighbors safe. We thank all first responders for their service.”
The Port of Caddo-Bossier also helped fund a new fire truck for the station, which was delivered last year.
